Are you interested in different policy areas, and on getting your voice heard?

Policy blog writers can contribute on an ad-hoc basis or apply to become OxPolicy Columnists. Standard blog contributors can contribute as often or as infrequently as they’d like, whereas Columnists are expected to contribute on a regular basis.

Why get involved? Writing for our policy blog has several advantages. First, you’ll increase your portfolio of published articles. This can be helpful across a wide range of careers both in terms of the skills and in the content-specific knowledge you will demonstrate. Second, you’re able to write on a very wide range of topics within the broad field of public policy. Thirdly, you can contribute on a timescale that fits you. Finally, the OxPolicy communications team will be on hand to offer advice, assistance, and a publicity for your ideas.

Interested in getting involved? Ad-hoc contributors can send their blog contributions to [email protected]. Blog posts should typically fall within 500 to 1,000 words. Submissions should include a title, subtitle, and, when possible, a general photo related to the topic to post with the blog. All blog submissions are subject to review and stylistic alterations. Contributors will be notified if and when their submission will be posted.

OxPolicy Columnists should apply be sending an email to [email protected] with the following information: (1) an overview of up to 250 words on why you want to contribute to the blog, (2) college, subject, and year of study, (3) a writing sample, ideally within 500-1,000 words, (4) the proposed theme(s) or topic(s) of your blog contributions and (5) how often you anticipate being able to contribute to the blog (weekly, fortnightly, etc.).

The guidelines for OxPolicy blog posts are relatively simple: keep the content non-partisan and policy focused (contributions should not explicitly endorse or align with a particular political party). Word count should typically fall between 500 to 1,000 words. All posts are subject to review and edits before appearing on the OxPolicy blog.
